Caged Bird In Society
by Didier Tamayo
A free bird leaps
On the back of the wind
And floats downstream
Till the current ends
And dips his wing
In a life that keeps moving
Daring to claim the sky mine
But a bird that speaks
Wishing for a new day but locked in a caged
Clock keeps ticking and nothing has changed
His bars of full of revolt
His wings are clipped and
His feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing
The caged birds sings
With a tearful cry
Of things unknown
But longed for still
And his tune is heard
But tired of lies
For the caged bird sings of a new vision
The bird thinks of another breeze
And the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
And I’m not fading on a dawn bright light
And he names the sky his own
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
His shadow shouts on his fake friend’s deeds
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing
The caged bird sings
With a fearful trill
Scared of getting judged
But tired of the chills
And his tune is heard
As society speaks
For the caged bird
Sings of a new vision
In terms of reaching academic goals I'm doing pretty good so far this year I just have to find a better way to manage my time so I get less stressed out and when I do I'll be reaching more goals in no time. I'm having trouble reading more books because its kind of hard trying to find books of my taste that ill actually enjoy and want to finish reading. I'm doing pretty well in participating but I feel like I can still step it up a bit in class. Some strengths that I have in this class include when we are doing academic discourses I can make good debates on things. I'm also good at interpreting certain readings. Some weaknesses I have in this class include doubting my answers because I feel they are incorrect yet most of the time they are correct. As a writer I feel good being able to express myself and my opinion on things. A challenge for me is finding a shorter but more academic way of creating sentences with lots of information. Something that is easy for me is understanding the topic and what we are supposed to be focusing on. This month of November I wish to focus on speaking more in class about the topic we are discussing and find more evidence to back up my conclusions because I usually don't supply enough evidence.

Growth mindset is the idea of growing from helpful criticism, effort, and failures. There are a lot of trends that have contributed to this growth mindset ideas in which many have used to become successful such as in technology or in people's daily lives. An example would be Elon Musk, who is a founder of Tesla who believes in the developing of electric cars for the future. In which the developing of these cars require many failures which will some point reach success. Till this day Tesla is a major car company and continues to develop more cars for the future. In an article by Growth Your Mindset. Pdf, it states that, “people with a growth mindset embrace challenges and persits in the face of setbacks” What this means is that people with a growth mindset would rather face failure rather than not learning from their mistakes.
Our artifact contains a depiction of two different car models by two different companies. One car being the Tesla Model S which is an innovated car running on electricity unlike our other car which is the Honda Accord that runs on gas. Our artifact displays the Tesla being charged at an electric charging station then we have our Honda getting pumped with fuel. Our artifact contributes to our gate icon since many of the patterns that many companies follow are the growth and fixed mindset patterns, such as the way they think. In conclusion an example of growth mindset is the Tesla since it’s background of early failures is similar to a growth mindset itself.
